How we help Kiwis get comprehensive protection

Here in New Zealand, we are fortunate to have a public health system that is one of the best in the world. With ACC and public healthcare, most of your accidental injuries are covered and emergency procedures are taken care of. But while the public system continues to take great care of anyone in this country, if you’re looking for comprehensive protection, getting insurance is a good idea. For example, there seems to be a misconception about the role of ACC, which is a no-fault scheme designed to cover some of the treatment costs and income compensation for accident-related injuries. However, it might not be helpful if you develop a serious medical condition that is not related to an accident. The same reasoning applies to public healthcare. If you ever need access to some unfunded medications or non-urgent treatment, you might need some cover in place to help with the costs.

We understand your concerns

As financial advisers, we have been a part of many family conversations when it comes to protecting their health and lifestyle. We have heard the genuine concerns of many families like yours, and experienced how different situations affect different families.

Our years of experience and knowledge have allowed us to not only understand your concerns but gain insight into how emotional insurance conversations tend to be.

The good news is, having an adviser in your corner is all about taking the stress out of the insurance process, and achieving peace of mind that your financial future is protected.

Underinsurance might make you vulnerable

According to research, a vast number of New Zealanders are underinsured. This means that they may have less financial resilience than they realise – which is where quality advice can help.

A 2013 study by Massey University, commissioned by the Financial Services Council (FSC), found that nearly 54 per cent of Kiwis have inadequate levels of life insurance, and nearly 50 per cent of households would experience a 40 per cent drop in income if the main breadwinner were unable to work. More recently, another survey commissioned by the FSC found that the majority of New Zealanders were not protected for the financial repercussions if they were to lose their income due to a health condition.

As it turns out, one of the key reasons for underinsurance in New Zealand is perceived lack of affordability. As insurance advisers, we’re here to assist you with securing an appropriate level of cover for your needs and goals, and importantly, your budget.

Do you have any questions for us?
